Felix Owusu has been here from the beginning. The Aurora FC captain was one of the first names on the teamsheet when the club was founded in 2024, and over the past year he has grown into one of the most respected figures in the dressing room.

We sat down with Felix ahead of this weekend’s fixture to talk about leadership, ambition, and what Aurora FC means to him.

Felix, you’ve been with Aurora from day one. What was it like in those early months?

Honestly? Chaotic — in the best way. There were about fifteen of us turning up to training, not really knowing what we were building. But there was an energy. Everyone believed in something. And slowly, match by match, it started to feel real.

You were given the captaincy not long after the club formed. How did that feel?

Unexpected. I’m not someone who chases titles. I just try to work hard and lead by example. When the coach pulled me aside and told me, I didn’t sleep well that night — not from stress, just from wanting to do it justice. This armband means something.

What does this club mean to you personally?

It’s changed my life. I’m not being dramatic. Before Aurora, I was just playing five-a-side on weekends and missing real football. This club gave me a purpose. A team. A family. Some of my closest friends now, I met in that dressing room.

The club is also building in Nigeria with Aurora FC Naija. As a Ghanaian, how do you see that expansion?

It’s beautiful. African football has so much talent — untapped, underserved, overlooked. What this club is doing in Nigeria, giving young boys structure and coaching and belief — that’s massive. I hope it grows and I hope one day a kid from that academy ends up in this first team. That would be the full circle.

Finally — where do you see Aurora FC in five years?

At the top. That’s not arrogance. That’s the standard we set ourselves every day in training. Five years from now, I want this club to be the one everyone in Houston talks about when they think about football. And beyond Houston too.
